Nvidia 970M Laptop Gaming Benchmarks – Still Any Good?

Scroll this

The benchmarks here can be used to give you an indication of performance that you should expect from an Nvidia 970M in a laptop with similar hardware specs. All games tested have been run at different levels, allowing you to see the frames per second (FPS) each game can achieve with different settings.

Games tested:
Battlefield 1
Watch Dogs 2
The Witcher 3
Rise of the Tomb Raider
DOOM
Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon
Ashes of the Singularity: Escalation
Shadow of Mordor

Testing was done using Fraps, so no DirectX 12/Vulkan benchmarks included. Nvidia driver 384.94 used for all tests.

  1. nice vid mate, im not a super gamer, and a 970m will do me fine for a few more years to come 😉 at least it has optimus right?

  2. hey do u have access to the 3gb version of the laptop 1060 gtx if u do could u do a vid on it

  3. I need some help on a laptop decision. I'm torn between two laptops that Im offered. The 1st is a Asus G751JY w/4870hq & 980M, 32GB DDR3. Versus a newer laptop with i7 7700hq and GTX 1060/70 & 16GB DDR4 which would be the faster machine. I understand gaming with the 1060/70 would be better but what about the CPU side of things? Thanks in advance

  4. Hey there, nice to see some detail in between the settings. Have you considered doing benchmarks with overclocking? I do it to my msi ge63 and don't have stability issues with a +135 core and +300 memory clock.

  5. That is literraly crazy how the pascal series improved laptop gpu performance!
    970m is comparable to 1050ti.

  6. I returned my Alienware 13 R3 with a GTX 1060 for the Alienware 15 R2 with a GTX 970m because it was 1,000 dollars off, was not sporting an aluminum exterior (fear denting), and came with a 4k screen. I felt the 15 R2 (which I bought new), was an all around better laptop.
