According to Viacom CEO Phillipe Dauman, The Beatles: Rock Band has exceeded sales projections and some editions could sell out by November. That is good news for the ailing videogame industry.
The Beatles: Rock Band is one of several games featured in a chapter focused on the music genre. In it, we point out a number of challenges, as music game developers succumb to the same performance traps as console makers and traditional game developers. Although it is still too early to give a final verdict on Harmonix latest musical masterpiece, even if it continues to sell well, the genre will have a difficult time maintaining the momentum generated by early versions of Guitar Hero and Rock Band.
